Islanders Insider is closing
Site announcement; Farewell Mario and Ziggy
We are currently considering the options that are being presented to us in regards to the future of this blog. We have several offers to join other sites and we also have the option of expanding our blog into a more "official" format. We will keep you up-to-date. For the time being, we will still deliver news to you once we hear it.
On a sad note, we regret to hear the news that the unruly health of Mario Lemieux has struck again. We are once again left to ponder what might have been if Mario's health was as good as his hockey skills. Mario will no doubt be remembered in the same breath as Bobby Orr and Mike Bossy---legends that were failed by their health. Good luck, Mario.
We'd also like to wish all the best to Ziggy Palffy. As Islanders fans, we will remember him as the sole shining light in a dark era. Good luck, Ziggy.
Parise or Nilsson?
Okay, Islanders fans it's time to have your voice heard! Given all that you have seen of the two players, who would you rather have? E-mail your comments to IslandersInsider@yahoo.com.
Also, a reminder: we'd love to read anything you want to send us. Give it a shot and we might post it here!
VOICE OF THE FANS:
"Larry" writes: I think the difference is simple, both are talented players and will be good NHL players for years to come, but here is the difference Parise in a lock to be a solid player a 2nd liner no higher. Nilsson has the ability to be a superstar and has a much higher upside or he could just end up a 2nd liner as well. I'm glad the Isles took the risk.
"Joe" writes: Although I believe Nilsson to be much more talented overall than Parise, I think that Parise brings intangibles to the table that make him more valuable than Nilsson. There are too many "if" to Nilsson's game (he might be a great scorer/passer when he matures, etc) but Parise has known qualities (leadership, grit, etc). In the end, I think Parise will be a better player.
